QUESTION
Hello,
i found some people adding "?utm_source=XYXY" after their banner links or other links. I assume it has to do with Google analytics visitor tracking, so I want to ask how i can use it to track number of visitors who clicked that link? Thank you
UTM URL BUILDER
Update: here is the UTM url builder: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1033867?rd=2
EXAMPLE UTM URL
According to above article, when i add link to external website, it can be like:
http://mydomain.com/subpage.php?utm_source=site_from_which_im_linking&utm_medium=websitelink&utm_content=textlink&utm_campaign=2015campaign
&utm_campaign= IS NOT REQUIRED URL PARAMETER
MORE EXAMPLES
Another example Analytics UTM URLs:
?utm_source=site_from_which_im_linking&utm_medium= websitelink&utm_content=textlink
?utm_source=yoursite&utm_medium=postfooter&utm_cam paign=product
?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=profile&utm_campaig n=website
?utm_source=newsletterdate&utm_medium=productimage &utm_campaign=product
(above examples are maybe wrong as they do not contain utm_content parameter which is required on Google UTM builder page mentioned above)
WHERE TO FIND STATISTICS
Probably in Google Analytics -> Webite name -> Traffic sources -> Campaigns
