In case YOu did not rreceived it, it was delivered on Monday 20:00 GMT

Dear Customer,

We would like to inform that on January 31st we are going to implement the new security feature on the server where your hosting account is located. In order to comply with all current email standards and to add additional layer of protection to our servers from being used as a platform for unsolicited bulk emails, unauthorized connections or domain spoofing, a mandatory SMTP authentication will be enabled.

This update will not affect mail functionality; however if you use a mail client to manage your emails please ensure you have Authentication option enabled in Outgoing server settings. Please check your mail client settings once this email is received.

If Authentication option is not enabled by January 31st you may start receiving the error: “Sending' reported error (0x800CCC78) : 'Cannot send the message. Verify the e-mail address in your account properties. The server responded: 550 Access denied - Invalid HELO name (See RFC2821 4.1.1.1)'”

The ways to enable Authentication for the most popular mail clients can be found below:

For Outlook, go to Account Settings > More settings > Outgoing tab. Check the option 'Server requires authentication' and 'Use the same info as for the incoming server'.

For Mac Mail, go to Preferences > Make sure to choose correct Account from the list of accounts on the left > Account Information > In ‘Account Information’ please find: ‘Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)’ field, and then select ‘Edit SMTP server list…’ option > then click on Advanced tab and set Authentication option to ‘Password’.

Then please restart your mail client.

If you use any other mail client and require our assistance in its configuration please contact use via live chat or helpdesk system at https://support.namecheap.com/. We’ll be happy to help.

Best Regards,
Namecheap Team
