    The tag "ALT" , in addition to the name of the image, makes it possible to associate a key word or an expression with an image. The keyword placed in the ALT tag will replace the image if the browser has difficulty displaying the image in question. The words contained in the "ALT" tags also help improve the SEO of your site since it allows to use additional keywords that will be read by the engines.

    <img src = "images / image-optimization.gif" width = "100" height = "90" border = "0" alt = "optimize an image for SEO">

    The alt tag or alt (alternate text) attribute applies only to the <img> tag, thus allowing an alternate display (replacing the image) for browsers that do not support graphics.
