I think that bounce rate is increased by promoting the site in missleading way. You attract or misslead people to go to your site, but they quickly realise they are not interested in what you offer. Simply you have non targeted traffic, you increase bounce rate.

So when doing social media promotion, make sure it is targeted, if not, then you probably will increase your bounce rate and eat your website data transfer.
