Apps written in java run only on android, When Java is platform independent
I was studying in core java that one of the features of java is that it is platform independent.
Now I am working on android development, android apps are developed using core java. Then why is it that those apps are not supported in Windowsphone or ios?

No , not all Android application not built on Java . there are lot of other technology which is used to make android apps but these apps are called hybrid apps . Only native android apps are built using Java language.

While Android development primarily uses Java as the programming language, the platform's independence refers to its ability to run on different hardware architectures and operating systems, not necessarily on all platforms. Android apps are specifically designed and optimized to run on the Android operating system, which is based on a modified version of the Linux kernel. This means that Android apps won't run directly on other operating systems like Windows Phone or iOS, which have their own distinct ecosystems and development frameworks. While there are ways to port or convert apps between platforms, it typically involves significant effort and may require rewriting parts of the codebase to adhere to the target platform's requirements and conventions.
