I want to develope my own shopping card and website for webhosting company by using freelancers. Reseller provided API key to use API. But what is mean by API? What is API key used for?

API key is security phrase which you can use in your application (PHP script for example) calls to obtain/submit data from/to remote server (the website who provided you with API key). Maybe your billing system already have module which can talk to your API provider. If not, you need to contact some php programmer and ask him if he can create new reseller module so you can integrate it with your billing system.
