Hyperlinks and URLs. A hyperlink is a certain kind of "clickable" text or graphic, which the Web browser generally responds by loading a new Web page. A uniform resource locator (URL) is a special address that uniquely identifies a Web page on the Web.

URL is a method of locating resources on the network or the Internet. ... URL points to the absolute path of the resource. On the other hand, hyperlinks use text or other symbols that can be changed while still pointing to the same URL.
URL is a specific address, and link is a relative path to URL. Whenever you navigate online between websites, you are using links or URLs (Uniform Resource Locators). Usually, you click on a hyperlink to follow the link.

A link is a snippet of text that has been associated with a URL. If you click on that text you are brought to the page that the URL points to.

It is a short form of Hyperlink. So, simply when you click or tap it, they allow you to move to a new location and that location is called a URL.
