I think it won't be big deal ping your blog at such sites. I think its good to ping your blog, it's speeds up the indexed your site by google and it has no negative impact to site even my site...

well it depends on what im looking for.... if its something simple yahoo if its something not so simple google just cause yahoo has more stuff blocked then google but yahoo is safer to use cause it...
