I think guest posting is about finding blog that is relevant to the website you want to promote. (use google)
Then contact blog owner to offer him writing unique article for his website while you have backlink in that article. Backlink leads to your website.

Find out popular blogs under your genre and request them to be guest blogger. Once communication is on discuss your purpose of blogging and what favour your are expecting from blogger. When both admin and you are agree on same terms, start blogging and keep good work continue...

It is better to offer to pay a small amount for advertising

1. Follow thishigh authority guest blogging sites list .
2.Find your niche related blogs
3. Write a unique and related article
4. Do not compromise quality ( if you do guest blogging just for the sake of yourself they will never accept your link)
5. Contact them or follow to the link of guest blogging page.
6. Submit your article
7. Wait for them to publish
8. Thats it you have done guest blogging.
