After lvresize, df output shows old size, how to fix

I tried to resize logical volume by command:

lvresize --size 123G /dev/vg/thin_pool_large

and "df -h" command still shown old size of the mount point

when executed:
resize2fs /dev/vg/thin_pool_large

df -h shown correct size
