It would depend id say on where you get better conversion from. If users moving to your website from social media, or another website such as referral traffic do well then that where you go. If you rank well on google and get great traffic from there that's also great. I would caution as a Website designer and as online marketing not to really solely on any one of these. As Google pushed directory listing to force small businesses into AdWords and Facebook reduces organic reach to force users into ads. My point is in the near future for any small to medium website to get any traffic from either of these sources they will need to pay.
