What is the advantage of Site Map Submission..?

I do not know any other useful places where one can submit sitemap, beside "Google Webmaster tools" dashboard.
Such submission can help Google to find all sub pages of your website.

I think If you are submitting sitemap in webmaster tools, then it is helpful for website crawling or indexing.
