Meta Tags have been one of the*most basic elements of SEO. It is must to know for every SEO professional that Meta tags are the words that are hidden in your code. People browsing your site will just not be able to see them.*The search engines still read them to have a simple, summarized idea of your site and to know what exactly your keywords are.
There are three important parts of Meta tags that you can use
a)Title
b)Description
c)Keywords

SEO meta data is what appears on search engine result pages (SERP) when a website comes up for certain queries. It includes the title of the page and its meta description (descriptive text below the title). The importance of meta tags is that the search engines read them in order to compare if these keywords and the description are related with the visible content.

Meta tag helps to a search engine to display results efficiently. If no meta tag menu it would take default content.
