If one have domain and a website but can not (or not willing to) register nameservers for their domain in their domain registar control panel

ns1.mydomain.com
ns2.mydomain.com

one can use http://1948.is and their free DNS service.
Register with them, confirm in e-mail and fill your name and address. Then go to FreeDNS section and click "New domain" + fill your domain name + IP address where you host or going to host this domain (IP is optional there).

All above takes like 5 minutes

Then in DNS zone section that is opened, add new DNS record type "CNAME" with "host" field being "www." and "points to" being mydomain.com (your domain name).

Now copy 4 nameservers that you can see on same page in section "NS". In my case there was:
ns0.1984.is.
ns1.1984.is.
ns2.1984hosting.com.
ns2.1984.is.

and i used them in my domain registar control panel as nameservers for my domain (mydomain.com)
Once i changed it, it took like 1 minute and then i could verify it was changed on site like http://dnsinspect.com or http://intodns.com

1984 has one click activating API which return curl command that can be used to update IP address for ones domain by executing that curl command from any Linux command line. So this way one can "one click/one command" point his/her domain to different server/hosting/IP. Nice

i am happy with this setup. It was fast, simple and no complications.

Another alternative is Cloudflare.com which is free and also offers basic DDoS protection + savings in traffic as it is serving as a proxy.
