i think new sites with quality (non coppied) content can appear in search engine in couple of days or week.
Just add your site to google webmaster tools and you may also link to your site from 1-3 high quality/reputable sites.
Also good idea is to use "Add site to Google" form on google website (google it).

The Google Sandbox is an alleged filter placed on new websites. The result is that a site does not receive good rankings for its most important keywords and keyword phrases.

Sandbox is like a container, in which Google holds new websites, those with duplicate content and other bad sites. Those sites in the Sandbox are often isolated from the main index of Google. So, "sandboxed" sites do not appear for normal search terms. They feature only for very narrow terms, Which are rarely used is searchers. Thus, this sites get little, if any search traffic.

The Google Sandbox is an alleged filter placed on new websites. The result is that a site does not receive good rankings for its most important keywords and keyword phrases. Even with good content, abundant incoming links and strong Google PageRank, a site is still adversely affected by the Sandbox effect.
