Hello, i read and asked if it is wise to add SSD instead of HDD into an server used for public/shared webhosting and VPS hosting.
I was told by many that they dont advice customer grade SSD into such a server. What is your oppinion?
- many did NOT recommended Raid 5 for SSDs
- they told consumer grade SSDs loosing its speed after some moths
"even linear reads on EVOs degrade down to 15-20 MB/s after just a few months of active use. Same applies to Crucial M500/M550/MX100. Even 840 Pros are affected."
People advice enabling trim (http://www.leaseweblabs.com/2013/07/5-crucial-optimizations-for-ssd-usage-in-ubuntu-linux/) to prevent this
