Falkon/Preferences/Tabs/Activate last tab when closing active tab
Site opens a new tab, you close it and not end up back on that site tab, but on the next tab which is not logic (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=458216).
Above steps will fix the issue and return you back to the site tab where you was before new tab was opened.
