Does the popularity of forum depends on the interface of the forum ?

Interface of the forums are found different with the forums. Each forum will have their own interface which will have different attraction with the visitors. Does the forum becomes popular if its interface is good, simple and attractive???
Unique interface may be difficult to use by the visitors but simpler type of forums makes visitors easy to use.

I use vBulletin, people know it well and know how to use it uikcly. Its also quite user friendly and at least me like it. Just use forum software designing that you like the most. Use SE and search: forum script database, or forum script demos
