I have ordered Xbox One Wireless controller (in battery area marked as model 1697) with a Xbox wireless bluetooth USB adapter (version on it is 1713).
If you require wireless function, and want to buy without xbox wireless usb adapter, then read this (https://www.reddit.com/r/xbox/comments/gsfieq/xbox_one_controller_with_builtin_bluetooth_for/fs6kzje/).

List of Xbox models here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_One_Controller#Models

and i wanted to install it on Windows 7. I red various tutorials like ones on ifixit (https://www.ifixit.com/Search?doctype=guide&query=xbox%20windows), but it not helped, but then i found the working solution which i describe below.

Attempts that failed:
My Windows 7 automatically found XBOX ACC and then Controller, the status was No driver found
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

1) Then tried to install "xb1usb.11059.0.140526x64.msi" (got from reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/3vuvg8/manually_download_xbox_one_controller_driver_for/cxqw6mz/))
Device Manager shown "Microsoft Xbox One Controller", the status is:
Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)

Driver date: 5/26/2014
Driver version: 6.2.11059.0

2) i tried to uninstall previously installed xbox software from Control panel / Programs and run Snappy Driver Installer Origin. It found Xbox gaming device, installed drivers, but the Device manager still shows errors:
Xbox wireless adapter for windows: This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)
There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.

and error code 37 again for "Xbox Gaming Device"

I have also seen "This device is not working properly because windows cannot load the drivers required for this device with (Code 31)." which was maybe in my case solved by later mentioned Driver frameworks and reboot.

Attempt that succeeded:

UPDATE: simplified tutorial including files is THERE (https://internetlifeforum.com/computers-technology/17495-how-install-xbox-one-gamepad-bluetooth-wireless-usb-dapter-windows-7-a/#post36102).

Before applying following, possibly good to uninstall xbox drivers from Device manager and tick to delete it.

I installed
1) User-Mode Driver Framework version 1.11 and then
2) Kernel-Mode Driver Framework version 1.11

(x64 for Windows 64bit and x86 for 32bit Windows - Right click Computer icon and Properties to see which one you have.)

For installation to work, Windows update service must not be disabled - it is not in default state (status can be seen and changed by Win.+R, execute "services.msc").

I connected the gamepad to PC directly via wire and restarted computer and clicked Start/Control panel/Hardware and sound/Device manager and right click XBOX Controller icon and Update drivers, let it find automatically. It then installed it after a while. Do the same for the USB adapter (if you have it) and controller works in the game. If the driver is not installed correctly and the device shows an error in device manager, then install Xbox One Windows driver itself (one is for 64bit, other 32bit X86, select appropriate version) https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=Xbox%20One
Extract the downloaded file contents.
Go to Start menu ---> type: device manager (and open it) ---> try to find XBOX entry (if not there, click the computer name and do menu Action/Scan for HW changes)

Right click Xbox ACC or Xbox Wireless adapter, Update driver manually selecting folder that was created when you extracted "Xbox One Wireless Receiver Model 1713 Windows 7 Driver" file.

How to pair Xbox Wireless bluetooth adapter and the controller itself?
After inserting charged AA batteries (proper polarity + and -). Try holding both buttons at same time - one on the adapter and other the logo button on the controller. Then it started quickly flashing, i released buttons and after a few seconds the logo button started lighting steady which means Connected/paired. One can verify in computer game or Win.+R, execute "joy.cpl"

I am a big fan of Windows 7. But Windows 7 is outdated.
Microsoft has stopped support for Windows 7.
How do I then use the Xbox controller for playing games on my Windows 10 Desktop?
I have already moved on to Windows 10.
Would you share the steps for doing this on Windows 10?
